There are many reasons to be enthusiastic about the fall season, but as summer gives way to fall and the climate shifts, so does the way our skin responds to the different temperatures.  More humidity is frequently present in the summer, which helps moisture stay in the skin and maintain its barrier. With heaters running throughout the colder months, the air both inside and outside becomes drier. When skin begins to dry out, the barrier may become compromised, leading to increased sensitivity, dryness, and irritation.

With these fall skincare tips, discover how to keep your summer glow all year long!

Stay Moisturized

If your skin has a tendency to dry out quickly upgrade to more moisturising skincare products. For the best results, search for products that contain hyaluronic acid and glycerin. You should also moisturise your entire body to achieve healthy-looking skin from head to toe.

While dermatologists emphasize the need to keep your skin hydrated, using too much moisturiser is also a possibility. Your skin may feel oily and your pores may clog if you cover your face in thick creams and lotions. If that describes you, you might want to switch to a moisturising spray or mist for less coverage.

Invest in a humidifier

While keeping your skin out of the cold is a good idea, artificial indoor heat can also negatively impact your complexion.

The majority of contemporary houses and workplaces rely on central heating systems that remove moisture from the air. To prevent your home’s air from becoming too dry, skincare experts advise making a little bedroom humidifier investment.

Avoid Hot water:

There is nothing better than returning home and soaking in a hot tub or enjoying a steamy shower when the weather is frigid outside. These hobbies are soothing, but they may not be the best for your skin.

You will become drier the hotter the water is. Hot water inflames the skin and obstructs the skin’s normal oil production, similar to sunburn. Dermatologists advise using less intense heat when showering to avoid this and protect your skin.

Carefully pat your skin dry with a towel after exiting the tub or shower rather than rubbing it. This helps your skin maintain moisture and prevents over exfoliation.

Continue Using Sunscreen:

You should continue wearing sunscreen even if you aren’t going to the beach anymore. Your skincare routine should always include a broad-spectrum 30 SPF sunscreen, not just in the summer.

Use a lip moisturizer and eye cream:

In the cooler months, if these two weren’t already a part of your skincare routine, they should be. The addition of these items moisturizes your lips and the skin around your eyes, just as you should switch to a thicker moisturizer. Lip and eye treatments aid with this transition because our skin dislikes abrupt changes.

Drink plenty of water:

Stay hydrated in cool fall weather by carrying water. While there are a variety of views on how much water should be consumed daily, four to six glasses is a fair guideline for generally healthy individuals. Your doctor might advise you to drink more if you’re taking specific drugs or exercising frequently.

You may still stay hydrated even if you have difficulties remembering to drink water by include hydrating foods in your diet. Strawberries, lettuce, melons, and cucumbers all have high water content and low sugar level.

According to the worldwide Air Quality Index (AQI), Lahore, the city of Gardens, is now Pakistan’s most polluted city.

According to information, the provincial capital is the most polluted city, with an air quality score of 241. The metropolis, which is home to 11 million people, is covered in smog, which affects its inhabitants’ ability to breathe, their vision, and their eyes.

Faisalabad is ranked second after Lahore with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 230. Karachi, on the other hand, maintained a somewhat superior air quality rating of 117. An AQI of 150–200 is regarded as unhealthy, 200–300 is more dangerous, and 300 or above is regarded as extremely dangerous.

Experts believe that the air is heavier in the winter than it is in the summer, which causes toxic particles in the atmosphere to migrate downhill and pollute the atmosphere.

Numerous people have contracted respiratory and other ailments from the filthy air. To prevent respiratory illnesses, doctors advise people to use face masks.

Rafeh Alam, an environmental expert who has worked to raise awareness of the risks posed by rising pollution, claimed that many people, particularly women and children, have been exposed to poisonous air, which is linked to several diseases. He demanded action from the government to lessen air pollution.

Precautionary measures against smog include:

  • Avoid being outdoors near heavy traffic areas to minimize exposure.
  • Avoid strenuous work outdoors.
  • When indoors, close windows & other inlets of air.
  • For people with asthma or COPD, always have your inhaler with you. Keep your doctor on speed dial if your condition has the potential to worsen.
  • Children, elders & people with asthma need to be especially careful on smoggy days.
  • Bike users must use face masks & glasses to protect their eyes.
  •  Drink plenty of water & wash your eyes frequently.

You must memorize a lot of knowledge for many college courses. It might be challenging to memorize material for just one lesson, but when you have many classes, it can be even more irritating. Many pupils believe that they just lack good recall skills. Fortunately, though, memorizing is not just for an elite group of people born with the right skills—anyone can train and develop their memorizing abilities.

There are numerous additional methods you may utilize to aid your brain in remembering information. Here are some simple tips to try.

Understand the information:

It is simpler to memorise information that is arranged and makes sense to you. Spend some time learning the information if you discover that you don’t comprehend it before attempting to memorise it.

Link it:

Make a connection between the material you’re attempting to remember and something you already know. It is harder to retain information that isn’t connected to other ideas than information that is. Make up a ridiculous connection if you can’t think of a way to relate the material to something you already know.

Sleep:

According to studies, your brain stores and analyses information while you’re asleep. Even if it’s just for a little while, try to study material before bed to see if that helps the information stick in your memory.

Self-Test:

Every now and again, test your knowledge by actively remembering the material you are trying to learn. Don’t just read through your notes or a textbook again; actively test yourself. Students frequently assume they recall content simply because it is familiar to them when they revisit it. Ask yourself questions instead and try to recall the information without consulting the solution or the source.

Use mnemonics:

Mnemonic strategies use patterns to aid in helping you remember a phrase or concept. Mnemonic strategies can take the form of rhymes, melodies, poems, drawings, pictures, and acronyms. When you strive to remember anything, mnemonics add meaning to ordinary things to help you remember them.

Write it out:

Because there is a direct link between our hand and brain when we write, it seems to assist us more thoroughly encode the information we’re attempting to learn. During lectures, try taking notes by hand, and afterward, rewrite and rearrange notes or material by hand. Try saying the material aloud and visualizing the topic as you write it down to help you remember it.

The neutral:

Neutrals are the go-to for fall and frankly for every other holiday too. Create a neutral fit by throwing on all the neutrals you have. There is something about comfy pants and neutral shades that is perfect for work, a date, a girl’s night out, or literally anything.

A leather moment:

Head-to-toe leather is back. Pair loose-fit pants with a snug-fit jacket to create this look. Remember to break the fit with a white T-shirt. Experiment with heels to make the look more formal.

Flow in a maxi:

Long skirts are so much fun. Pair a maxi skirt with a chunky sweater or just about anything. I’m here for it since it’s literally an effortless look in an instant!

Trench forever:

What could be simpler than donning a massive trench coat over a plain ensemble and calling it a day? The trench coat speaks for itself. You can leave it open or tie it up to add some more oomph to the look. Pair it with a stunning pair of boots and the ensemble is out of this world. We can’t decide which aspect of this outfit we appreciate more—the fact that it takes no effort but produces a high-quality result—or the way it makes us feel as the trench billows behind us.

Back to school:

Back to school is the easiest look out of all. Blazers are perfect for those fall days you want to switch things up but still want to stay as cozy as possible. What’s great about this simple outfit is that it truly goes with any pair of pants: denim, ribbed knits, or my personal favourite, cigarette pants. It’s a classic fall fit that’s foolproof.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday, the two-day meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global organisation that monitors money laundering and terrorism financing, will start today in Paris.

Along with other topics, the meeting will talk about removing Pakistan’s name from the Grey List. To represent Pakistan at the meeting, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar is already in Paris.

Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s finance minister, expressed hope that his country will be removed off the Financial Action Task Force’s “grey list” just three days prior (FATF).

Dar also said that Pakistan had worked hard to exit the grey list. “A meeting is expected in a few days, and the government is hopeful that the country will come out of it,” he hoped.

This will be Raja Kumar, the taskforce’s new president, first FATF meeting as chairman.

It is important to note that Pakistan has adhered to both of FATF’s action plans in full. Islamabad has implemented 34 points under two different action plans. According to officials, Pakistan has met all requirements to end money laundering and financial assistance for terrorists.

At its most recent plenary meeting in March 2022, FATF decided to keep Pakistan’s name on its “grey list” and ordered it to take additional steps to investigate and bring charges against key commanders and leaders of UN-designated terrorist organizations for financing terrorism.

The FATF sent a high-level delegation to Pakistan from August 29 to September 2 to meet with the necessary officials and assess the country’s progress in meeting the requirements for removing itself off the grey list.

The group looked at how well government projects were implemented and sustained.

According to a key study released on Monday, those who use hair-straightening treatments repeatedly may have a markedly increased chance of acquiring uterine cancer.

The study’s lead author, Alexandra White of the US National Institute of Environmental Health Safety (NIEHS), said in a statement: “We estimated that 1.64% of women who never used hair straighteners would go on to develop uterine cancer by the age of 70, but for frequent users, that risk goes up to 4.05%.

“However, it’s critical to consider the context of this knowledge. According to her, uterine cancer is a rather uncommon form of the disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), uterine cancer continues to be the most prevalent gynecologic cancer in the United States, with rates growing, particularly among Black women.

33,947 racially varied women between the ages of 35 and 74 were followed by researchers for an average of approximately 11 years. Uterine cancer struck 378 women at the time.

After taking into consideration the participants’ other risk factors, researchers found that women who used straightening products more than four times in the previous year had more than 2.5 times greater odds of having uterine cancer.

Less frequent straightener usage during the previous year was also linked to an increased risk of uterine cancer, but this association was not statistically significant, suggesting that it might have simply been a coincidence.

In the research, there was no difference in the relationship between uterine cancer risk and race. However, “these findings may be even more significant for them because Black women use hair straightening or relaxer products more often and tend to commence use at younger ages than other races and ethnicities,” Che-Jung Chang of NIEHS stated in a statement.

The brands or contents of the hair products used by study participants were not gathered by the researchers. However, they pointed out in the research that a number of chemicals, including parabens, bisphenol A, metals, and formaldehyde, that have been discovered in straighteners may contribute to the elevated risk of uterine cancer and that some of these chemicals have endocrine-disrupting capabilities.

Due to the possibility for greater absorption via the scalp, which burns and lesions brought on by straighteners might intensify; chemical exposure from hair products like straighteners could be more worrying than that from other personal care items.

Whatever the industry, at least one woman is smashing gender norms and making history in it. The basketball team from Bahrain is starting a new chapter in the history of gender equality. And in the case of sports, this is particularly true. Consider Fatima Reyadh, 33, who overcame gender stereotypes to become the first woman to ever coach a men’s basketball team in Bahrain.

She was picked to coach the men’s basketball team in a culture where women participating in sports was frowned upon. Fatima overcame all the challenges and critiques she faced in the beginning and proved her mettle. Her leadership skills were frequently questioned, and it took some time for others to accept her as a coach.

Fatima is the mother of a seven-year-old girl. She started by instructing young ladies in basketball. She also used to instruct young boys until she was hired as an assistant coach at the Al-Najma Basketball Club in Bahrain’s capital city of Manama.

Although Fatima Reyhad holds a black belt in Taekwondo as well, her goal is to lead the men’s basketball team to the national championship. Her involvement in the activity began when she was a young child and used to go with her mother to a women’s basketball club’s headquarters. Her mother was a team coach for the club’s squad. To add to her long list of achievements, a stroll through her IG reveals that Fatima is a very athletic and charismatic person. Apart from basketball, Fatima is also fond of cycling and tennis.

According to reports, Fatima Reyhad said, “It was strange for women to be involved in sports, especially basketball because it was the preserve of men.” She also added that at the beginning of her sports career, she encountered multiple challenges as there was an absence of recognition back then as compared to now.

Seeing a woman defy gender norms and coach a male sports team is such a proud moment for women across the world.

According to billionaire Elon Musk, SpaceX will keep funding its Starlink service in Ukraine’s war-hit regions. Musk announced it on Twitter with the following statement: “the hell with it … even though Starlink is still losing money & other companies are getting billions of taxpayer $, we’ll just keep funding Ukraine govt for free”.

Musk later appeared to suggest that his change of heart was sincere, but it was first unclear whether it was. No good deed goes unpunished, a Twitter user once said, to which Musk responded, “Even so, we should still do good deeds.”

Musk had previously stated on Twitter that SpaceX wouldn’t be able to sustainably fund Starlink in Ukraine. Additionally, the US military acknowledged that it was in touch with the billionaire’s business regarding funding for the vital network.

Ukraine’s communications in its struggle against the Russian invasion have been largely dependent on Starlink, a network of more than 3,000 tiny satellites in low Earth orbit.

After the Russian incursion crippled internet services in Ukraine, Musk turned Starlink on in late February. Since then, the Ukrainian military’s access to the internet has depended heavily on its internet terminals. 25,000 ground terminals have been donated by SpaceX to Ukraine, according to a revised number provided by Musk last week.

Service interruption might have serious implications for Ukraine. This week, after more than 100 Russian cruise missile attacks, Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said that Starlink services had assisted in restoring the electrical and communications infrastructure in crucial locations.

After the local cell phone network was destroyed after intense bombardment, military communications have been conducted using encrypted satellite transmissions.

Musk’s cooperation is essential for Ukrainian military efforts, according to Mykola Balaban, the deputy director of the Ukraine Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security, who spoke to Al Jazeera.

“Ukraine has demonstrated very effective strategic communication over the past six months,” he continued. We succeeded to convey to our partners throughout the world the significance of supporting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in their struggle against the war from Russia, as you can see with this tweet [from Musk]. Of course, communication lags occasionally and there are instances of misunderstanding.
