When you’re juggling relationships, a part-time job, maintaining your grades, and college, it can be difficult. Most of us become preoccupied with phone calls, texts, and push notifications. The average student is “distracted for at least five out of every 15 minutes they set aside to study,” most frequently due to texting and social media use, according to a survey.

It can be exceedingly challenging, but not impossible, to maintain concentration when there is so much going on.  You may win the battle against distractions by employing some simple strategies.

Make a To-Do List:

It might be stressful to juggle numerous projects and deadlines. It’s simple to overlook another task when you’re focused on one. A good schedule will enable you to better plan your deadlines and manage your time. You can keep track of your classes and assignments by using a planner or digital calendar. For people who like to make their own to-do lists and appointment schedules, paper planners are ideal. According to one study, the mere act of writing things down improves your memory and focus.

Turn Off Alerts:

All college student’s adversaries are frequent notifications and texts. Close any unnecessary tabs on your computer and put your phone on silent or “Do Not Disturb” mode.

Find the right Place to Do Work:

Students must figure out what works best for them when studying or completing their schoolwork. Some pupils can’t concentrate in a quiet setting; thus, they want noise and bustle. Others require complete quiet, free from all other influences. Try a few different spaces and see how each study session works out.

Split the work into smaller tasks:

By splitting a big project into smaller ones, procrastination can be defeated. Instead of diving headfirst into a massive task, it’s easier to drive oneself to do smaller ones. Break up your time wisely if you’re struggling to complete your work or studies. Consider taking a 10-minute break after 45 to 50 minutes of work. According to studies, regular breaks might improve productivity and information retention.

Clear your Desk:

Your ability to complete your work may be hindered by an untidy workspace. Sort through your desk and just keep what is necessary. An organized workstation can help boost motivation and lessen anxiety.

Reward yourself:

Even a little drive can make a big difference. It’s a good idea to set up a reward system to motivate oneself to complete something. For instance, reward yourself with a nap or a Video if you successfully complete an essay without any interruptions.

World Mental Health Day is on October 10 and as our understanding of mental health grows, we grow along with it. Mental health has come a long way since the early nineties when the World Federation of Mental Health (WFMH) officially established the day.

World Mental Health Day presents a chance to put your focus on your condition if you’re dealing with one or more mental health issues. The road to rehabilitation needs to start now. There is also a range of additional ways to observe this unique day.

Practice self-care:

You may alter many aspects of your life that will last after World Mental Health Day. Creating a consistent sleep schedule, changing your food to include healthier options, taking lunch breaks, and taking long walks are a few suggestions. Understanding your individual requirements is the goal of self-care. Make time to reflect on your desires, then pursue them.

Check-in with friends and family:

We should also check in on our friends and family members as part of World Mental Health Day. The best places to start are with a simple “How are you doing?” or “How are you feeling today?

Do group therapy in the workplace:

Sign up for a workshop on group therapy at your place of employment. This might give you and your employees a comfortable space to express yourself. We frequently insist that continuing despite problems is the best course of action, but problems might appear out of nowhere if they aren’t appropriately handled.

Talk to a counselor:

Counseling isn’t just for persons with major mental health concerns, as a lot of people think. The fact is, whether we’re coping with loss, suffering from a mental condition, or feeling worn out at work, counselors are there to support, advise and help us all. Asking for assistance is therefore not a sign of weakness.

Raise awareness:

Simply talking about mental health more is a great way to observe World Mental Health Day. By eradicating the stigma surrounding mental illness, we can promote a culture of mental wellness by sharing stories and resources with family, friends, and co-workers.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a yearly initiative to increase understanding of this complicated condition and collect money for studies into its causes, remedies, and cure. Every October since 1985, groups of people, organizations, and towns have come together to demonstrate their support for the numerous breast cancer survivors. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good opportunity to think back and help others.

Pakistan has the highest incidence rate of breast cancer among Asian countries. One in every nine women has a lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Different people will experience different breast cancer symptoms. Some people completely lack any symptoms or warning indications.

Some indicators of breast cancer include:

  • New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).
  • Swelling or thickening of a breast region.
  • Breast skin irritation or dimpling.
  • Redness or flaky skin, in the breast or nipple area.
  • Nipple pulling in or pain/discomfort in the nipple area.
  • Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood.
  • Any modification to the size or shape of the breast.
  • Pain in any area of the breast.

Remember that illnesses other than cancer might cause similar symptoms as well. Be sure to visit a physician if you experience any warning signs or symptoms.

Queen Elizabeth II’s cause of death is listed as “old age”, in the register of deaths published on Thursday.

Paul Lowe, the registrar general for Scotland, verified that the Queen’s death was reported on September 16 in Aberdeenshire.

According to the record, the 96-year-old queen passed away on September 8 at 3:10 p.m. at Balmoral Castle in Ballater. Princess Anne registered her mother’s death.

Douglas James Allan Glass is noted as the certifying registered medical practitioner. There were no additional causes of death given, only old age. The doctor who certified the death at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire was Douglas Glass, whom Buckingham Palace says was an “apothecary to the Queen”.

According to the records, the Queen passed away just over three hours before Buckingham Palace released a statement at 6.30 p.m. announcing the news.

Old age is admissible if the physician who certified the patient’s death had provided long-term care, was unaware of any illness or injury that may have led to the patient’s demise, and had noticed a steady deterioration in the patient’s overall health and functional state.

During her later years, the Queen had intermittent mobility issues and frequently used a walking stick in public. She started using a walking stick after being hospitalized in a private London hospital in October of last year for “preliminary investigations” — her first overnight stay in eight years.

Global leaders recognised the contribution the Queen had given to the world over her 70-year reign, and on September 19, the world said goodbye to the monarch with a state funeral drenched in the spectacle.

Presidents, prime ministers, members of the royal family, and dignitaries gathered at Westminster Abbey for a solemn service as tens of thousands of people flocked to the nearby streets and the 25-mile route of the procession from central London to Windsor in an effort to see the sovereign’s flag-draped coffin as it traveled by hearse to her final resting place.

Habit tracking is a way for you to monitor how well your daily, weekly, or monthly habits are being maintained. An effective habit tracker can take many different forms, from an advanced app to a piece of paper and a pen.

Why tracking your habits is beneficial?

Tracking habits is the key to building new habits. By tracking your habits you’ll have a better chance of succeeding. You’ll feel more in control of your future and more self-assured by breaking down your big goals into manageable habits and keeping track of them.

Having a tracking habit encourages us to remain dedicated. Without any form of accountability, we are more likely to completely forget about our new habits.

Tracking habits gives you motivation and acts as a reward. You can keep track of your habits and form new ones by employing these strategies.

1.    Bullet Journal

A bullet journal is one of the most popular techniques for tracking habits. All you need to create a habit tracker is a pen and notebook, the name of your habit, and some space next to it for tracking.

2.    Printed Templates

Printed templates are another way to track your habits. Choose a printable template to save time if you find the drawings and fillings required to complete a Bullet Journal to be tiresome. There are many free printable templates available online and you can pick one according to your liking.

Levi’s® just launched the next iteration of its “Buy Better, Wear Longer” campaign which builds on the brand’s long-term commitment to making fashion more sustainable and prolonging the lifespan of its products. Levi’s® is on a mission to help consumers love their jeans for decades, not seasons.

To support this effort, Levi’s® created a cinematic short film from the perspective of a pair of Levi’s that tells a multigenerational story: the film takes us through the life of Levi’s most iconic design, the 501. Transformed through the decades with each owner, adapting to the style of the times, the 501 is just as relevant, and wearable today as it was in the 1960s.

“The campaign speaks to Levi’s® legacy, durability, and appeal to a broad global audience. A pair of Levi’s® ages beautifully, engaging generation after generation, with a few tweaks and changes. Timeless and versatile, yet fashionable — no matter the decade. This message is more relevant today than ever before, when we’re all thinking how we can contribute to a more sustainable future” – Karen Riley-Grant, Global Chief Marketing Officer

The Buy Better, Wear Longer campaign is both a plea and a promise. It’s a plea for consumers to be more intentional about their purchasing decisions and to look for ways to rewear, repurpose, and hold on to their clothes as long as possible, before passing them down to future generations. And it’s a commitment from the brand to continue its work on numerous fronts to be responsible stewards of the natural resources we use, to innovate across its design and manufacturing platforms to become more sustainable, and to move towards more circular products and practices across the board.

Climate, consumption, and community are at the core of our approach to sustainability, and Levi’s® is pursuing a variety of initiatives to support this vision: Investment in materials such as Cottonized Hemp and Organic Cotton, which reduce water consumption and pioneering Water<Less® manufacturing in denim. Most of all, Levi’s® has open-sourced their learnings and tools to affect broader change. Today, Levi’s continues to work alongside partners and leaders like Fashion for Good and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to help shift the industry to a more circular model and Levi’s® R&D lab, WellThread®, constantly searches for radical new ways to make clothes that can reduce its environmental footprint.

“Reconfiguring supply chains takes time but we have found partners that are as concerned about their footprint, and are as excited to experiment as us. These collaborations have allowed us to introduce more circularity in how we make our products.” – Paul Dillinger, Vice President, Head of Global Product Innovation.

The Buy Better, Wear Longer short film is available to view (HERE), andhas launched worldwide across digital and social platforms. To build on their message, Levi’s® will also highlight stories from their partners and changemakers XiyeBastida, MelatiWijsen, and Emma Chamberlain, who have been an integral part of thecampaign since its launch last year and represent the next generation of voices on sustainability. T-shirts can serve a lot more purposes than just serving as your go-to outfit for couch surfing. You can incorporate them into a stylish layering look or dress them up with a saree. The options are essentially limitless. Here are five creative and interesting ways to style a white t-shirt, shared by Maham.

Summer Burst:

The summer season is all about bright, vibrant colours and if you’re looking to wear a statement item (like orange trousers) then a plain white t-shirt is the ideal clothing to bring a clean break to your outfit. Pair it with white sandals and perhaps a light white coat (if you’re feeling brave), and you’ve got your hero piece shining bright like the sun.

Date Night:

The white t-shirt provides the perfect modest way of wearing a corset as an outer. When paired with high-waisted wide-leg pants, it accentuates the curves of your body and gives a balanced proportion to the overall look. I’ve opted for flats to give a more casual look, but you can switch them for heels to give extra oomph.

Saari Affair:

Add a modern twist to the classic black saari. Elevate your black saari by pairing a black corset with your white t-shirt and you’ll get that black and white film vibes. Layer with traditional and modern accessories to complete the look and you’re ready to strut the streets.

Swan Effect:

You can never go wrong with an all-white outfit – it works for all seasons. Pair with any coloured shoes and you’ll add just the right amount of colour to not let your outfit feel dull.

Casual Outings:

Nothing screams comfort like overalls. Keep the look fresh with a white t-shirt, white joggers and maybe a dark-coloured cardigan (for winters) and voila, you’re officially a Gilmore Girl.

The most typical backache is low back pain. At some point in their life, more than eight out of ten people will have upper, mid, or low back discomfort. Without treatment, most back pain cases improve within a few weeks.  Back pain is frequently relieved by over-the-counter painkillers as well as by applying ice or heat to the affected area.

The first step toward finding relief from back pain is understanding when to visit a doctor. Many people can operate normally despite having mild backaches and can get comfort from at-home care. However, it’s crucial to be aware of the warning signs and symptoms of a more severe back issue that needs to be diagnosed and treated by a doctor.

When to see a doctor

If you have any of these red flags along with back pain, see your doctor as soon as possible:

  • Constant or intense pain, especially at night or when you lie down
  • Pain spreads down one or both legs, especially if the pain extends below your knee
  • Pain causes weakness, numbness, or tingling in one or both legs
  • Back pain occurs with unintended weight loss
  • Back pain occurs with swelling or redness on your back
  • Back pain occurs with fever
  • Medical history of cancer, osteoporosis, chronic steroid use, or suppressed immune system

Seek emergency medical care

Dial 911 for emergency medical assistance or arrange for transportation to the hospital emergency room if your back pain occurs:

  • Occurs following a severe auto accident, serious fall, or sports injury.
  • Creates new issues with bladder or bowel control

At the age of 96, Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch with the longest reign in British history, passed away on Thursday in Balmoral Castle, United Kingdom (UK).

The late monarch was well-respected across the world, and Pakistan was one of the nations she visited twice. She also had cordial relations with nearly all the administrations in place since independence.

1961:

In 1961, Queen Elizabeth visited Pakistan. She was accompanied by her husband, Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip. She visited Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, and other areas of the country.

Queen Elizabeth waved to the crowds as she rode in a convertible through the streets of Karachi.

During her visit, she was also introduced to the then president, Muhammad Ayub Khan while in Lahore.

1974:

During the Pakistan Cricket Team’s tour of England, when they played off against the national team at the Lord’s stadium, Queen Elizabeth II also honored the occasion with her presence. In a picture, the Majesty is pictured shaking hands with Imran Khan, a former premier who played cricket at the time.

1997:

After 1961, the next visit to Pakistan was over three decades later when the Queen joined the country in celebrating 50 years of its independence. She was again accompanied by Prince Philip.

In the pictures floating on the Internet, she is seen posing in a bright yellow polka-dotted dress as she stood with Pakistani leaders at the Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad.

While touring the mosque, she covered her head with a scarf over her hat while wearing stockings as a sign of respect for our culture.

She also spoke at a banquet hosted by the then President of Pakistan, Farooq Leghari.

Apart from her tours, she also gave knighthood to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was in power at that time.

The British monarch also met with the late Benazir Bhutto at a national assembly of Pakistan during her visit.

On October 10, 1997, Queen Elizabeth visited the National College of Arts and spoke to students there.

2013:

In 2013, the Queen and Prince Philip invited the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai to a reception at Buckingham Palace, where they met and spoke for a brief time.

2018:

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Dinner Reception hosted by HM The Queen for Commonwealth Heads of Government and Spouses in Buckingham Palace on April 19, 2018.

2019:

Her final encounters with Pakistanis were when she met with all the team captains prior to the 2019 World Cup of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Sarfraz Ahmed, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, met her at Buckingham Palace at the time.

Harassment is a type of job discrimination that is against the law in several states and federal jurisdictions. Constant unwelcome sexual advances, verbal abuse, and requests for sexual favours are all examples of sexual harassment. There will probably be a harassment issue if a firm has a large workforce. In Pakistan, harassment of women at work affects more than 70% of them, and there seems to be no end in sight to their predicament.

The following are some potential consequences of sexual harassment at work:

Leadership gap:

Harassment at work contributes to the leadership gap. By attempting to avoid their harasser, women risk missing out on vital mentorship and on-the-job training, both of which are essential for assisting women in advancing into leadership roles.

Emotional issues:

Sexual harassment victims frequently experience emotional and psychological suffering, such as stress, depression, and anxiety. They frequently suffer from low self-esteem and confidence.

Physical issues:

Victims of sexual harassment also report long-term physical health problems. Physical health issues such as insomnia, loss of appetite, changes in weight, motion sickness, and headaches might occur.

Impedes women’s economic security:

In a survey, 38% of women who had experienced harassment said it had influenced their choice to quit their jobs early, and 37% said it had prevented them from advancing in their careers. Women’s income and opportunities to save money and build wealth are reduced when they cut back on their working hours or quit their jobs to escape a harasser.

Professional Problems:

The effectiveness at work and the course of a victim’s career can both be severely harmed by sexual harassment. Some people may isolate themselves from co-workers and the job out of fear or a loss of confidence. They are more prone to be late, absent, or preoccupied. Those who are sexually harassed may have disadvantages in their career advancement, including being passed over for promotions, being excluded from important meetings, facing retaliation, and being branded a troublemaker, if they report the harassment.
