We always come up with lists of things we fancy but this week we are mixing it up to reflect some of the people and things that have disappointed us.

Zara

Zara has disappointed us with its distasteful campaign mocking death and genocide.

Amal Clooney

Given that Amal Clooney chaired a committee to look into war crimes in Gaza while practicing human rights law, it is disgraceful for her to remain silent about aggression against Palestine.

Malala Yousafzai

Mala is another silent individual who we thought stood for something. She has disappointed us for remaining “neutral” during this time.

The Archies

The Archies proves that nepotism is rife in Bollywood. Apparently, ace director, Zoya Akhtar, gave these star kids one full year of acting training on top of the diplomas they have from their respective acting schools. Even then this movie fails and we dare you to watch more than 30 minutes of it without snoozing.

United States

The United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the war between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza. What a let down by its own rules!

Harvard University

Harvard has let us down by showing intolerance towards students and faculty that protested against Israel.

Nestled along the Persian Gulf’s glistening coastline lies the glamorous city of Dubai, a global hub that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity. From its towering skyscrapers and luxurious shopping malls to its rich cultural heritage and vast deserts, Dubai offers a captivating experience that enthralls visitors from around the world.

A City of Architectural Marvels

Dubai is renowned for its awe-inspiring skyline dominated by iconic skyscrapers such as the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Standing at a breathtaking 828 meters, this architectural wonder offers panoramic views of the cityscape from its observation decks. Visitors can witness the city’s evolution through interactive displays, showcasing Dubai’s journey from a modest fishing village to a global metropolis.

The city’s architectural prowess extends beyond the Burj Khalifa, with other notable landmarks like the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel, the twisting Cayan Tower, and the Dubai Frame, a towering structure framing the city’s contrasting old and new neighborhoods.

Immersing in Cultural Experiences

Despite its modern skyline, Dubai cherishes its cultural heritage, inviting travelers to explore its historical sites and traditional markets (souks). One such experience is that of Souk Al Bahar in Medinat Jumeirah Hotel. The narrow walking spaces in the market area remind us of traditional Arab markets and transport you back in time.

At this Souk, you venture into the aromatic alleys of the Gold and Spice Souks, where merchants display an array of dazzling jewelry and spices, offering an authentic Arabian shopping experience. Visitors can also take an abra (traditional boat) ride along its own canal, witnessing the contrasting architecture of the city.

Indulging in Luxury and Entertainment

Dubai is synonymous with opulence, boasting an array of world-class shopping malls, luxury hotels, and extravagant experiences. The Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping complexes globally, houses an aquarium, an ice rink, and an array of designer boutiques. Adjacent to the mall is the captivating spectacle of the Dubai Fountain, which comes alive with choreographed music and water dances against the backdrop of the Burj Khalifa.

For thrill-seekers, Dubai offers adrenaline-pumping adventures such as desert safaris, where visitors can ride camels, try sandboarding, or experience dune bashing in 4×4 vehicles. Additionally, for those seeking an exhilarating experience, The Address Skyviews offers the Edgewalk, allowing daring individuals to walk along the edge of the hotel’s rooftop terrace, offering stunning views of the cityscape from an entirely new perspective.

Global Village Dubai: A Cultural Extravaganza

One of Dubai’s most celebrated attractions is Global Village, a cultural extravaganza that brings together diverse cultures, cuisines, and entertainment from around the world. This immersive attraction showcases pavilions representing various countries, offering visitors the chance to experience global diversity through art, music, dance, and cuisine.

Visitors can explore bustling streets adorned with vibrant stalls, shop for unique handicrafts, savor authentic international delicacies, and enjoy live performances that celebrate the world’s rich cultural heritage. From shopping for souvenirs to witnessing live entertainment, Global Village provides an unparalleled cultural experience that adds a unique flavor to Dubai’s offerings. Our personal favourite was the Turkish shopping area.

Conclusion

Dubai stands as a testament to human ingenuity and progress, captivating travelers with its juxtaposition of modernity and tradition. From its futuristic skyscrapers to its rich cultural heritage, lavish experiences, daring adventures like Edgewalk at The Address Skyviews, and the enchanting Global Village, this city offers a tapestry of experiences that linger in the hearts of those who visit.

Whether you seek adventure, luxury, cultural immersion, or an adrenaline rush, Dubai welcomes you with open arms, promising an unforgettable journey through its enchanting landscapes and vibrant tapestry of experiences.

The Edgewalk at The Address Skyviews provides a thrilling and unique experience for visitors seeking adventure and an unmatched perspective of Dubai’s stunning skyline. Always ensure to check for available slots and safety guidelines before planning your visit.

Heritage Home, a boutique furniture brand situated in Lahore’s central area, showcases a diverse collection of exquisite, handcrafted items designed in-house, hence entering the studio always feels fresh and new. Their primary focus is on procuring superior raw materials to create enduring, classic pieces that exude timeless charm and make a lasting impact in any setting.

They are proud to revive the forgotten expertise of inlay in the mainstream furniture market and introduce fresh woodworking methods like parquetry and marquetry into the furniture industry. Although these techniques were once integral to local woodworking heritage, they were seldom embraced by mainstream furniture brands in the country due to their lack of perceived “trendiness.”
