The third edition of the Lahore Biennale (LB03), curated by John Tain and organized by the Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF), has officially launched in Lahore. This year’s biennale, titled “Of Mountains and Seas,” focuses on ecologies and sustainable futures, exploring how art can address global challenges such as environmental degradation.
Featuring works from over 60 artists representing more than 30 countries, LB03 presents site-specific exhibits and immersive installations. These highlight the impacts of environmental crises while celebrating indigenous heritage and vernacular knowledge as resources for imagining sustainable futures. The biennale connects Pakistan’s unique perspective to broader discussions within the Global South, encouraging cross-cultural collaboration.
LB03 is hosted at several iconic locations across the city, including Alhamra, GPO Square, YMCA, Pak Tea House, Lahore Museum, Nasir Bagh, Bradlaugh Hall, Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, and Shalimar Garden Station. These historic sites serve as the backdrop for contemporary art installations, blending Lahore’s cultural history with present-day environmental concerns.
The biennale runs until November 8, and is free and open to the public, providing a platform for artists, thinkers, and the community to engage in conversations on art, heritage, and sustainability.
